Web Steering Committee

Purpose

The Web Steering Committee (WSC) is the strategic goal setting body for RMIT University websites within the defined scope.

Terms of Reference

The committee will:

  • determine the high-level vision and strategic goals for RMIT University websites in line with RMIT University’s other strategies and business plans;

  • produce a triennial RMIT University Web Strategy for ratification by the ICTSC;

  • prioritise and sponsor projects arising from the implementation of the RMIT University Web Strategy;

  • put forward to ICTSC a detailed business case for investment in line with the RMIT University Web Strategy;

  • provide leadership around cultural, process and organisational changes necessary to effect the RMIT University Web Strategy;

  • be the business owner for infrastructure or processes arising from the RMIT University Web Strategy (such as the RMIT Web Publishing System);

  • formulate and recommend to ICTSC a web publishing policy that will define management accountabilities for website content at RMIT University;

The membership will consist of:

  • IT infrastructure (Allan Morris, Information Technology Services)
  • Teaching and learning support (Craig Anderson, Teaching and Learning portfolio)
  • Staff support (Karl Hughes, People and Culture)
  • University governance (Helen Sloane, University Secretariat)
  • Web technology (Assoc Professor James Thom, School of Computer Science and Information Technology)
  • Web business application (Henric Beiers, School of Business Information Technology)

Relationships

The Web Steering Committee reports to the Information Communication Technology Strategy Committee (ICTSC)

Frequency of Meetings

The committee will meet at least twice each semester.

Quorum

Quorum will be half of the number of members plus one member.
