Abstract

The presentation focuses on the use of a new colour scheme on the hockey pitches installed at the London 2012 hockey venues. Touching on examples from other sports (i.e. tennis, athletics) the presentation outlines how the use of surfacing colours is used to enhance the sporting experience as well as broadcasting possibilities for the sport of hockey in particular.

About the presenter

Dr Martin Schlegel is Managing Director of Advanced Polymer Technology Australasia Pty Ltd (APTA) being responsible for production and distribution of the group’s synthetic turf and recreational coatings throughout the Asia and Oceania region. He manages the product development of the group’s synthetic turf systems as well as liaison with the sporting authorities (FIFA, FIH, ITF, AFL etc.).
