RMIT University offers the following wireless networks on and around campus:
Please note: As of 2 July 2013, the process to access the wireless network in Buildings 80 and 100 changed – please see below for details.
- RMIT–University network is available to RMIT students, RMIT staff and authorised visitors. This secure or ‘closed access’ network will appear in the WiFi settings of a device and enable authorised users to access the internet and RMIT’s network.
- RMIT–Support network is available to all members of the RMIT community. This ‘open access’ network will appear in the WiFi settings of a device and link to a variety of support information including password assistance, user guides and the IT Service Desk.
- eduroam is available to students and staff from visiting universities. This network is an independent wireless network which allows mobility between educational institutions for authorised users. Instructions on how to access eduroam are contained within the user guide.
- Buildings 80 and 100
- Staff/student access: In these buildings, devices are required to be registered. See the overview document for further details and for specific instructions view the mobile and notebook registration process documents.
Guest access: Staff can authorise guest access to the RMIT wireless network in these buildings via the online registration system . Refer to the guest access user guide for more information.
Note: RMIT offers free wireless access to participants of conferences held at RMIT. Simply request access through the myTechSupport form allowing us 10 days’ notice so that we can have everything ready for you. Make sure that you provide us with your full name, the conference name, date and location, your phone number and email address. That way we can send you instructions so that you are ready to connect.
