365 Days of Design

The launch of the “Giving” window display by Takahiro Kunitoshi and Ayisha Tutone marked the beginning of a fashionable friendship between RMIT University Fashion Design and Prahran salon Blondes to Brunettes.
365 Days of Design will see the boutique hair and beauty salon’s window transformed into an exhibition space showcasing installations by RMIT’s top up-and-coming fashion design talents.
“This friendship between RMIT Fashion Design and Blondes to Brunettes provides a great opportunity to our third-year fashion students to get some fantastic exposure for their work and we commend Blondes to Brunettes for supporting young designers and emerging talent,” RMIT Fashion Lecturer, Peter Allan, said.
“The RMIT Fashion Design program is celebrated for its high profile and successful alumni and we pride ourselves on producing graduates who are the innovators and agents of change within fashion design industry,” he added.
Student creations will be exhibited on High Street, Prahran – one of Melbourne’s most prominent shopping strips.
Exhibiting students will receive a complementary professional photo shoot, an album of digital images and assistance with promotional materials, media exposure and PR.
Blondes to Brunettes owner Jane Smith said the link between the fashion, hair and beauty industries was inextricable.
“We are proud to support RMIT Fashion and some of Australia’s top fashion designers of the future by providing a platform for exposure.
“We are all a part of the same vibrant creative community,” she said.
The fashion friendship is set to run through 2010 and beyond as RMIT University continues its commitment to quality fashion relationships.
The first window display is on show until January before a new window is launched.
