I already have a headset. Can I use it with my VoIP phone?

VoIP telephones support many standard headset types with either USB or telephone-type connectors (RJ). Instructions on how to connect headsets to VoIP phones can be found on the Telephony user manuals page.

My old phone had a handpiece lifter which was controlled by my headset to answer the phone. Can I use this with my VoIP phone?

No. These lifters are not supported on VoIP phones. They will, however, still work with RMIT analogue telephones.

I would like to get a new headset. Which models are supported (VoIP or analogue phones)?

RMIT’s preferred headset supplier, Interquartz, have listed all supported headsets on their web pages, accessible via Telephone headsets. Ordering instructions are also listed there.

I have a wired or USB headset. How do I connect it to my VoIP phone?

Can I use my Bluetooth headset with my VoIP phone?

RMIT ITS does not support using Bluetooth headsets due to potential interference with Wi-fi networks, microwave ovens and other devices.
