A number of different types of scholarships are available to research students at RMIT Business. The types of scholarship available will depend on whether the scholarship applicant is an Australian citizen or permanent resident or an international student.

RMIT Business Research Student Support Fund
RMIT Business offers funds to postgraduate research students to assist candidates with the successful completion of their research program. Funding may be granted to assist students with things such as attending conferences to present papers regarding their research, acquisition of data sources for research purposes, purchase of computer software and databases, field work and other purposes deemed appropriate by the committee assessing applications for support.
Priorities will clearly change from time to time. Activities that are clearly aligned to the colleges research strategy will be given priority, for instance, those attracting DEST credit
To be eligible to apply for funding from the RMIT Business Research Student Support Fund the applicant must be enrolled in a PhD or Masters by Research (either full time or part time) with RMIT Business. Applications can be lodged at any time throughout the year.
Note: As of January 1 2010, the Research Student Support Funds will be increased to a $3000 limit per candidature. Any 2010 commencing research students will be eligible to apply for this new increased amount, however any student who has been enrolled prior to 2010 will be eligible to apply for an additional $1000 per candidature.

Local Students
RMIT University provides a number of Higher Degrees by Research (HDR) scholarships to local applicants each year on the basis of demonstrated academic excellence and research experience and/or potential.

International Students
International Scholarships are available at RMIT University to assist students who are disadvantaged by their economic, social or geographic circumstances but have the academic ability and the will to succeed.

JASON
The Joint Academic Scholarship On-line Network (JASON) is an on-line database that was set up by a number of Australian universities including RMIT, to provide scholarship information for all postgraduate research students and provides details about scholarships available at institutions around Australia as well as some overseas scholarship opportunities.
External Support
A range of support is also available from both private and government organisations. Some support is targeted for research in particular industries, some is offered for full-time scholarships and some support is for specific purposes such as travel related to research. RMIT research maintains a listing of research funding opportunities that includes scholarships.
Also many industry groups offer support for research that is being conducted in areas of interest to their Research and Development Plans. Interested students should make enquiries with industries that are related to or could benefit from their research.
Support from International groups
The Center for International Mobility (CIMO)
CIMO, an organisation operating under the Finnish Ministry of Education, offers services and expertise to encourage cross cultural communication.
CIMO offers scholarships of 3-9 months for postgraduate studies, research and teaching at a higher education institution in Finland. The scholarships are based mainly on cultural agreements or similar arrangements between Finland and various countries including Australia.
Canadian International Scholarships
Canada is committed to participation in international study and research partnerships that build understanding among peoples, develop global citizens and leaders, and contribute to the development of nations.
Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT) is responsible for the Government of Canada's participation in major International Scholarship Programs.
Support for Women
The Australian Federation of Graduate Women (AFGW) is one of 78 member nations of the International Federation of University Women (IFUW), which has consultative status with the United Nations and its specialised agencies, including UNESCO and ECOSOC. AFUW thus has a voice through IFUW on international matters of critical importance to the protection of human rights and the status of women and girls.
AFGW Inc places priority on providing financial assistance for women to undertake university studies in Australia and overseas.
