Program Advisory Committees (PAC)

Functions

The Committee considers and advises the University on matters associated with the development, delivery and assessment of TAFE and HE programs.

Normally, the Committee reports to the Head of School responsible for the program. Where appropriate, formal reports are forwarded to Academic Board/Board of Technical Studies or other relevant committees of the University.

The Committee:

  • assists in the development of detailed program submissions for new and reviewed programs presented by the School to Portfolio Board, in particular
    • recommendations on proposed program developments;
    • student demand and the community need for the program;
    • likely employment opportunities for graduates of the program;
    • the extent to which the program offered meets its stated aims and objectives;
  • advises on key relationships among RMIT, employers and the profession;
  • considers the resources required for program delivery;
  • supports the accreditation and re-accreditation of RMIT programs by external bodies;
  • advises on research and development activities and relevant consultation with external bodies.
