Access ESS
All RMIT employees will be given a User ID and a Password on the commencement of their employment. The user ID will be your employee number preceded by an ‘e’ (e.g. e12345) and initial password will be the letter ‘p’ followed by your date of birth backwards in this format (pYYYYMMDD!). For example, if your date of birth is 7 April 1983, your password is p19830407!.
To access ESS:
- Go to the ESS log in screen
- Type your system login name (E and your employee number) and password. If this is your first login with the new password the system will ask you to reset your password. When you reset your password you are not able to use your previous five passwords
- Press ‘Log on’ to display the ESS main screen.
Note: Do not share your ESS login or password as these provide access to your personal data.
Sign off ESS
To exit ESS:
- Click on Exit Pushbutton
which is at the top of the screen.
Note: If you close the browser without signing off, the system does not log you out. If someone else uses ESS on that machine they can display your details as well as locking your record, prohibiting payroll and other personnel administration functions from being carried out.
