Key activities
James is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Design at RMIT University. He obtained his Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Building Science from the University of Sydney and completed his PhD on sustainable commercial building façade designs from the University of New South Wales.
James has practiced as an Architect for more than seven years since graduation and has extensive experiences in building designs and project management from residential, industrial and institutional to high-rise commercial building projects in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Taiwan and China. He worked in academia for a number of years with expertise in sustainable building designs and advanced building construction technologies.
Since joining the Centre for Design, James has involved in the development of a building materials assessment tool (The Buildings Assembles and Materials Scorecard - BAMS) using life-cycle assessment methodology to assess the environmental performance of building assemblies. He is also involving in the development of environmental assessment of retrofit initiatives for a range of existing buildings in Australia and New Zealand which have heritage values.
James is also a certified internal auditor for ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. His research interest has been in sustainable building construction technologies and sustainable building designs.
